BEGINNING BIRDING - Are you new to birding? What are the best applications to identify various bird species? How can you attract specific types of birds to your feeders? Learn this and more in this informative program where you will also watch for birds in our retreat room. Each paid participant will create and take with them a Suet Feeder. WINTER WOODPECKERS - This winter, “tap” into the wondrous world of woodpeckers! You’ll learn about how to identify our local woodpecker species, their unique behaviors and how they thrive during the colder months. We will make a bird feeder special for woodpeckers for you to take home, and afterward, go on a hike to spot them in action! Dress warmly, and wear your boots, we’ll be braving the chilly weather – just like the birds!

NATURE JOURNALING - We’re going to be making and decorating our own nature journals. Nature journaling is a great way to observe nature and the world around us in a fun way. It forces us to slow down, pay attention, and appreciate small details we may not have noticed otherwise. Whether we’re drawing a leaf, documenting an observation, or tucking something between its pages, we’ll broaden our knowledge of nature. The recommended age for this program is 5 and older. Participants under the age of 5 will need adult supervision and assistance.

FANTASTIC FOSSILS - Take a step back in time and embark on a fossil hike with us! Join us for an exciting hands-on excavation activity where we will learn about how fossils are unearthed, how fossils form, and how they tell the stories of our park’s ancient past. We’ll find, observe and identify real fossils along the way. Dress warmly and wear sturdy shoes – we will be searching for fossils off-trail!
